We use soil-less eco-sponge in our products, for it creates a pest-free environment. It contains coconut shreds, tree barks and other organic materials. This helps to maintain the nutrients, pH value and aeration, so as to promote healthy growth of the plant. 
We recommend changing it every  5  years depending on how far it has decomposed naturally,
